Hello all!
I'm here to talk to y'all about Chris Brown's third CD, Graffiti. To you radio listeners out there you surly have heard "I Can Transform Ya" ft. Mr. Carter himself lil Wayne. I'm almost certain this song was number one on the charts, and for good reason it's pretty dope. This song in my opinion is one of the weak points of this CD. In no way does "I Can Transform Ya" compare to "Wall to Wall", "Kiss Kiss", or "Run It". It is the weakest of the first singles of his CDs. However his second is somewhat redeeming, "Crawl” which is almost certainly a reaction to the Rhianna scandal of early 2009. The music video is better, it has a meaning, it's better sung [as opposed to "ICTY" which is basically breezy rapping] and the short amount of dancing is better. Cassie [Long Way to Go] is the actress in the video and I think she's prettier then Rhianna [when she has all her hair]. Here is the video for "Crawl":
Now let me set the record straight. "Graffiti" is better then "Exclusive" or "Chris Brown", I think by leaps. It is more my style, and all of the songs are different, which one could not say about "Exclusive". This CD is curiously 80's. For instance, the talk box makes an appearance on the CD. Also the beats are thrown back [along the lines of Kanye West's 808's and heartbreak].
I do have some complaints about this CD however. First as I stated above the lack of an epic dance song is a glaring problem. Chris Brown is a dancing god, the only person that comes close is T- Pain, and maybe Omarion. Next is the lack of huge names on this CD. "Exclusive" included, T Pain, and Will. I. Am, Big Boi, Lil Wayne, The Game, and Kanye. On "Graffiti" he has Lil Wayne, Plies, The Game and Sean Paul [which I thought was going to be awesome but the song sucks]. It doesn't compare. Lastly this CD is way to long. This seems to be a common trend with Breezy; there is no need for a 19 track CD when I can't stand 5 songs. One more thing, listen to the song, "For Ur Love". The guitar sounds dangerously close to "Save Tonight" by Eagle Eye Cherry. I still like the song but let me know what you think.
All and all this CD is very good, especially the more you listen to it. I currently have listened to "So Cold" 15 times in the last two days. The slow songs get you in this one, they are much better then Chris's old work. The faster songs are good to work out to, and good to dance to but that HUGE dance song just isn't there. Hopefully he will get on a song with T pain on his new CD, or with someone else because I crave that song. "Wall to Wall" is still one of my favorite songs to date, and the first time I heard it was my junior prom.
YES PLEASE

Final Say 8 out of 10
