Man, oh man.
Many weeks later and how the wild wild world of baseball has changed.
The Red Sox had a comfortable lead in the AL East, got to I think 9 games back of the Bombers and are now within five and have an easy ride the rest of the way (besides the Yankees of course)
So first the Sox, much has changed. First my favorite topic of Mr. Boucholz. He has finally found his stride as a starter, and he's still 24 hah. Now Dice K and Timmy have returned of the DL and pitched wonderfully. The Red Sox are arguably the hottest team in baseball (sorry Minnesota) and could challenge for the AL East Pen. No promises though haha. The better news the wild card is basically a lock! PS VMART ROCKS [except when catching beckett]
Now to the Twins, Tigers battle. The Twins are used to this situation, because last year they caught the white sox, only to lose in the playoff between the teams. Currently the Twins are 3 games back of the tigers with a HUGE series between the two this weekend in Motown. The Twins seems to be chugging along even without their all star first basemen Justin Morneau who with 100 RBI's and 30 HR's is out for the season with a fractured spine.... Yuck. So keep an eye out on this series, the Twins are 9-5 against the Tigers this season thus far. It is the Twins last season in the HHH Metro Dome, next year they go to Target Field, so I'd think they'd like to end their stay with a bang.
Now the NL
The Ambiguity, of the NL central was swiftly solved with the trade for Matt Holladay, which translated to a 10 game lead over the ailing Cubs.
The most drama filled division in baseball in my opinion however is the NL West which apart from a healthy AL East is the best division in Baseball. The Dodgers, Rockies, and (san fran) Giants are all battling for a NL West win, but the runner up will recieve the gift of the wild card. Currently LA is ahead of the Rockies by 5 games and ahead of the Giants by 9.5. Two weeks ago this race was far more interesting. The Rockies were only 2 games back of a stangnent Dodgers [Manny Who?] and the Giants were only a few worse then that. Then Rockies got cold and Tim Lincicum got hurt and the competitveness died slightly. I'm still pulling for the Giants but if Timmy can't win they're in big trouble. Which is a shame, because honestly i would be petrified to face that pitching in a five game series.
hopefully the last 13 or so games of the season will bring some suprise to the baseball world and then October baseball will be as wonderful as it normally is.
Yankees Tigers --> Yankees in 3
Red Sox Angles --> Red Sox in 5
Rockies Phillies --> Rockies in 4
Dodgers Cards --> Cards in 4
Yankees Red Sox --> Sox in 6
Cards Rockies --> Cards in 6
Sox Cards --> Sox in 6
HAHAH Crossing fingers =]
