If you had told me to guess how weeks one and two would have played out I wouldn't have come close to what we have today.
Unlikely Unbeatens
JETS
Wins vs. the Texans and the Pats have turned heads in the AFC East. No one expected big things out of the Jets this year, besides the Jets themselves. The years of the passionless Eric Mangini and our favorite AARP member Brett Farve, are gone. A new in your face attitude have come with the second coming of Joe Namath AKA USC Alum Mark Sanchez. Coach Rex Ryan, Ex defensive coordinator of the 2009 AFC runner ups the Baltimore Ravens, has brought a swagger to the team that has be obviously missing over the last 40 years. Before the the Patriots game at Giants stadium, Ryan personally called all of the Jets season ticket holders and urged them to cheer their heads off at the game, claiming they were the difference between a victory and a defeat vs the Pats. Ryan's fan pep talk and revamped defense stunned Bill Belichick and Tom Brady 16-9.
I Still do not believe the jets are a playoff team. Sanchez needs more playing time, and the offense which has given up more touchdowns then the defense, needs help. They will finish the season 9-7
San Francisco 49ers
2-0 WHAT@?
VS the seahawks and the cards!
WHAT
YES!
San Fran has shocked the nation and has started the season 2-0 vs very formidable teams. Week one they beat the NFC and almost Superbowl champions in Arizona. Week 2 they followed to beat a team predicted to have 12 wins by ESPNs Colin Cowherd. I want this team to make the playoffs, and with their easy schd they very well may. I'm not counting out the other two powers of the NFC West (sorry ST.L) but if the Niners stay healthy Mike Singletary (Current favorite of coach of the Year, with a 96% approval rating on ESPN.com), will give them a shot at post season ball.
9-7
New Orleans Saints
2-0
Drew Brees may be the best quarterback of our generation. Week one he threw 6 TD passes, even though they played the anemic Lions, it was still amazing. Week two they played a McNabbless and he threw another 3. So by week two he has thrown 9 TDs, more than Dan Orlovsky, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Derrick Anderson threw all of last year. In my opinion the Saints are a wild card team behind the Scary Falcons. 10-6
The bad
Miami Dolphins
It's not all bad in Miami. They played the Colts last night in MNF and lost by 4, even though they had possession for 45 minutes of the game. They ran the ball effectively and had only one turnover, compared to week ones four. The problem i think is our receiving core, Pennington threw some very catchable balls in the end zone, which a multitude of players dropped. Next week is at @ San Diego, which will be another nail biter.
Dolphins miss the playoffs and go 7-9
Carolina Panthers
The Problem?
Jake Delhomme
1 TD pass in two games? 5 interceptions
This is the team I picked to go to the super bowl at the beginning of the playoffs last year.... yikes.
With AJ Feeley as a back up the depth is weak.
The Panthers will go 8-8
